About Great Park

The Great Park community is a unique collection of subdivisions in Irvine, California. It is considered to be a wonderful location for the nature enthusiast.

Great Park is connected by biking, and walking paths lined by heritage trees. The community has over 4,000 homes separated into Beacon Park, and Pavilion Park. There are many amenities throughout these neighborhoods such as swimming pools, spas, tennis courts, parks, and barbecue areas.

Two new schools will open in 2016; Portola High School and Beacon Park Elementary School. The Irvine Unified School District maintains the public school system with highly ranked facilities like Irvine High School, Cypress Village Elementary, and Jeffrey Trail Middle School. There are also many private facilities in the city including University Montessori of Irvine, Creekside Children’s Center, and Tarbut V’torah Community Day School. This is the home of the University of California, Irvine which was established in 1965. Other higher education facilities include California Southern University, University of California, Merced, and Irvine Valley College.

This neighborhood is on the edge of the Orange County Great Park which is the 21st Century’s first metropolitan park of its kind. This location was once the home of the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. Features include balloon flights, lake for boating, streams, trails, botanical garden, museums, and library. Its sports park covers 165 acres with ball field, a rock climbing wall, skateboard complex, and field house.

There are many parks and trails throughout this region as well as golf courses like the Rancho San Joaquin Golf Club, the Strawberry Farms Golf Club, and the Oak Creek Golf Club. Shopping centers include the Irvine Spectrum Center, Cypress Village Shopping Center, and Los Olivos Marketplace.

Irvine is a planned community that is considered to be one of the safest in the county. It has proven to be a great place for startup businesses and many companies have their corporate headquarters here.
